What is GlucoDay® S for? GlucoDay® S is a device normally worn by a person with diabetes that continuously measures glucose levels in the body. During a 48 hour period, GlucoDay® S provides information that is the equivalent of approximately 1,000 finger prick glucose values. GlucoDay® S is worn in the abdominal region and utilising a process called micro-dialysis, glucose is collected from the interstitial fluid through a micro-fibre that has been inserted subcutaneously. The micro-fibre has a diameter similar to that of a human hair. |

Can GlucoDay® S be used autonomously by person with diabetes? No. The GlucoDay® S system should be used under the supervision of qualified professional operators. Application to a patient should be performed in a suitable environment by trained personnel. The results of the monitoring must be interpreted and reported by appropriately trained healthcare professionals. Does the patient have to self-monitor his/her glycaemic levels during monitoring with GlucoDay® S ? Yes. The patient should self-monitor their blood glucose levels as normal or as instructed by their healthcare professional. Can the patient carry out his/her everyday activities during the GlucoDay® S monitoring? Yes. There is the possibility of viewing the glucose values in ‘real-time’, however, this is at the discretion of the physician responsible for the monitoring. How can the data recorded by GlucoDay® S be visualized? The data recorded by GlucoDay® S can be visualized in three different ways. a) Directly from the instrument's display. b) With a personal computer connected to GlucoDay® S through an RS232 serial port having the necessary software ( GlucoDay® Software). c) With a personal computer connected to GlucoDay® S through an infrared port having the necessary software ( GlucoDay® Software). Can the patient read the glucose values directly from the instrument during monitoring? Yes. There is the possibility of viewing the glucose values in ‘real-time’, however, this is at the discretion of the physician responsible for the monitoring. How long can the GlucoDay® S system be worn for monitoring? The system can be worn by the patient for up to 48 hours. Can GlucoDay® S be connected directly to a pump for the administration of insulin? No. GlucoDay® S is an instrument that measures subcutaneous glucose values providing the healthcare professional with accurate and detailed results. Any therapy adjustment will be done appropriately on the doctor or nurses’s advice. Is GlucoDay® S a safe instrument? Yes. GlucoDay® S was developed in accordance with all the safety requirements of the Medical Device Directive (MDD 93/42) and has obtained the CE mark from TÜV Product Service.
